Hello! I've recently bought the HP Omen 15, the 2016 edition with a GTX 965m 4GB and a i7 6700hq. Whenever I play light games the temps are absolutely fine. World of Warcraft, both GPU and CPU both stay around or below 70º, which is amazing. However, when I play something more demanding, like Overwatch, it raises de cpu usage to around 40-50% and with it the temps up to 90+ degrees. The GPU however, stays cool, under 70 degrees. These high temps are clearly unhealthy for the CPU and for the computer in general, is this normal? I remind you, the CPU usage is only at 40% with occasional ups to 50%.
Thanks!

I also see that on newer processors the turbo boost gets activated automatically depending on the load on the PC

With the high specifications of the PC, it is expected to get hot to a certain point and the Omen is built to handle those temperatures. However, if you feel that the temperatures are too high and if it also causes performance issue like locking or freezing up then call HP support and have them take a look at the PC.
Alternatively you could use an external cooling pad/ cooling fan to reduce the temperatures slightly when playing high CPU usage games.
The only reason i could think of at the moment with regards to it overheating is if its always being overclocked or in turbo mode the whole time. that could cause a few overheating issues

Thank you for your answer.
Regarding the external cooling pad I'm already using one, athough a cheap one, it does help, even if only to lift the computer a little bit. The computer isn't freezing or anything like that, atleast for now, but how do I check if turbo mode is enabled?

Boot to the BIOS by pressing the F2 key while powering on
Bios options might vary depending on the BIOS you have on the PC
Look for Frequency/Voltage options
then choose overclock configuration.
If it is enabled then turbo boost is on, If disbale then not.

Hi , i just wanted to ask if ur getting a stable frame rate of 60fps on your games. The reason for this is mainly because I tried playing games on my omen which range from borderlands 1 ,skyrim and overwtach. I usually have a 60fps and then it suddenly drops to around 30 for a couple of seconds and then goes back up. Im wondering does it have to do with it the laptop being overheated.
