Hello,

I own an HP Victus Gaming Laptop 16-s0017nt (7Z587EA) purchased on June 4, 2024. Since 1–2 months after purchase, I have been experiencing severe CPU and GPU overheating.

Despite this:

My motherboard has been replaced twice by HP Authorized Service

The same overheating issue continues

The device has never been serviced by any third party.Currently, even at idle, the laptop runs at 75–85°C (see attached image). During normal use or gaming, temperatures increase further, forcing constant monitoring. After multiple repairs and long service waiting times, I am exhausted and request a permanent solution or alternative resolution (replacement/refund).

Hi @Adem46,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for providing all the details. Based on your description, this is a critical thermal issue that persists even after two motherboard replacements, which strongly suggests a design or firmware-level problem rather than a component defect. Running at 75–85°C at idle is far beyond normal for a Victus Gaming Laptop and can shorten component lifespan.

Why This Happens

  • BIOS/EC firmware mismanagement of fan curves or power limits.
  • Thermal paste application or heatsink alignment issues during service.
  • Design limitations in cooling for high-performance CPUs/GPUs under sustained load.

Recommended Actions

  1. Update BIOS and HP Thermal Framework
  2. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
    • Press Esc → F2 at startup.
    • Run System Tests → Thermal and CPU Stress Test.
    • Save any Failure ID (24-digit code) for escalation.

  3. Check HP OMEN Gaming Hub
    • Install OMEN Gaming Hub | HP® Official Site.
    • Set Performance Control → Max Fan Speed and monitor temps.
    • If temps remain above 80°C idle, this confirms a firmware or assembly defect.

  4. Document Evidence
    • Screenshot idle temps and gaming temps.
    • Note BIOS version and service history.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
