OMEN 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop PC 15-en1000 (2L1F2AV)

Hello,

Upon plugging in a USB connected to a portable phone power bank (via the USB-C port which charges up the power bank), my laptop immediately shut off and would not restart. I opened it to see if there were any obvious issues, which there weren't, so I removed the battery to test and the laptop runs fine when only plugged into the mains adapter.

My best guess is there was a fault with either the power bank or USB port which caused a power surge and fried the battery. Now, my warranty has ran out on the laptop, which means I do not get a free battery replacement. So I am curious as to what my options are here and if it is recommended just to straight replace the battery, or if there is a process to determine that the damage was caused by a serious design fault with the laptop and if replacing the battery will only help in the short term.

Thanks for any help and advice.

That is the cupid. Please check power on your machine and your power bank. Are they compatible ?

Regards.
