Hi @Djdnfbfkeb

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

The power button backlight on your HP Pavilion Gaming 15 may have stopped glowing due to a firmware change, BIOS setting, or minor hardware degradation—especially if the laptop still boots normally.

It’s cosmetic, but its absence can signal deeper system behavior.

Here’s a breakdown of what might have caused the change:

1. Firmware or BIOS Update

  • HP firmware updates sometimes adjust LED behavior to reduce power draw or align with newer design standards.
  • If you recently installed a BIOS update or Windows update, the LED control may have been altered.
  • You can check your BIOS version by pressing Esc > F1 at startup and compare it with HP’s latest version for your model: HP Pavilion Gaming 15 Drivers & BIOS

2. Power Management Settings

  • Windows or HP software may disable non-essential lighting during boot or sleep transitions.
  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings > Advanced settings.
  • Expand Power buttons and lid > Power button LED (if available) and ensure it’s enabled.

3. LED Hardware Degradation

  • After extended use, the LED beneath the power button may dim or fail independently of the button’s function.
  • This is rare but possible after years of thermal cycling or physical wear.

4. HP OMEN or Pavilion Command Center Settings

  • If your laptop supports HP OMEN Gaming Hub or Pavilion Control Center, check for lighting controls.
  • Some models allow toggling cosmetic LEDs, including the power button.

5. No BIOS Option to Re-enable

  • Most Pavilion Gaming models do not offer a BIOS toggle for the power button LED.
  • If it’s disabled at the firmware level, it may not be user-accessible.

What You Can Do

  • Confirm whether the LED glows briefly during startup or battery insertion.
  • If it never lights up at all, and no software controls exist, it’s likely a hardware or firmware change.
  • You can still run HP diagnostics to confirm overall health: HP PC Hardware Diagnostics

Let me know your exact Pavilion Gaming 15 model number (e.g., ec2000ax or dk1000tx), and I’ll check if your unit had LED controls or firmware notes related to this behavior.
