Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa1000 (771S7AV)

Hi! I want my laptop to turn on when the ac charger is plugged in, I see that other laptops have this feature in this bios, however I do not see it in my laptop's bios. I want to make my laptop as sort of a stationary pc and it is not convenient for me to have to open my laptop everytime I want it turned on. If it is possible I also want to learn about the turn-on after pressing a button on the keyboard, i want to be able to open my laptop with keyboard after i have shut it down completely. Please help, thank you.

Hi @ARI387,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand how inconvenient it must be to manually open your laptop every time you want to use it, especially when you're trying to set it up as a stationary PC. Let’s explore your options to make this process more seamless.

  • Have you already checked your laptop's BIOS thoroughly for any settings related to "Power On AC" or "Wake on Keyboard"?
  • Is your laptop currently running the latest BIOS version available for your model?
  • Are you open to using external devices (like a USB-connected power button) as a potential workaround if these features aren’t available natively?

Let's try these steps.

Update the BIOS:

  • Visit the HP Support website for the Victus by HP 15-fa1000 and download the latest BIOS update if available. This might unlock hidden or new features, including power-on settings.
  • Follow the instructions to install the BIOS update and check for the desired power settings in BIOS afterward.

Check Advanced Power Settings in BIOS:

  • Restart your laptop and repeatedly press Esc or F10 to enter the BIOS setup.
  • Navigate to the Advanced or Power Management tab.
  • Look for options like "Power On AC" or "Wake on Keyboard". If unavailable, these features might not be supported natively by your laptop's hardware.

Enable Wake-on-USB in BIOS:

  • If supported, enable USB Wake Support in the BIOS. This allows USB devices, including keyboards, to wake the laptop.
  • Connect an external keyboard, and after completely shutting down, test whether pressing a key powers the laptop back on.

Use External Workarounds:

  • Consider purchasing a USB-connected power button or docking station that supports "power-on" features. This can act as an external power button for your laptop, keeping the lid closed.

Hibernate Instead of Shutdown:

  • Configure your laptop to enter Hibernate mode instead of a full shutdown:
    • Open Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do.
    • Enable Hibernate and set the power button to put the laptop into Hibernate mode.
  • This allows you to resume work by simply pressing a key or the power button.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hello, I really appreciate that you tried to help me but unfortunately updating the BIOS did not help so I think my laptop might not have that feature so no "Power On AC" , no "Wake on Keyboard", and no "Wake-on-USB". Also after hibernating, I cant open my laptop with pressing keys or moving my mouse. My last hope is the external workarounds you mentioned but I couldn't find such a thing on the internet, i would really appreciate it if you can tell me where I can find one or the exact name so that I can easily find it on Amazon or something, it would be realllly helpful.

Thank You.
