Purple Bar appears along bottom of screen after Alt+Tab 'ing out of a game

This problem occurs seemingly at random where I will tab out of a full screen game and then a purple bar will appear along the bottom of the screen horizontally, then expand upwards turning everything purple until about halfway up the screen then it dissappears, leaving a blue and red bar along the bottom of the screen and hindering my ability to alt+tab. I am fairly certain this is a software problem and it corrects itself if I restart the laptop.

Never heard of this. What game an if you're using a browser, which one?

If you're using a browser like Chrome, have you tried a different one like IE or Firefox?
