Makes me wonder if there will ever be a BIOS update anymore?

I have recently noticed micro jamming for a fraction of a second, and system slowdowns at times 😞

As for the micro jamming, the screen was frozen for 0.5 seconds approximately. Didn't cause system hangs or CPU usage (if we're talking here, the main system drive sometimes slows down too, via old software)

AMD, Nvidia and AMD Chipset drivers up to date.

Windows 11 24H2 (latest dated 8 July), I refreshed yesterday and so far the problem has disappeared. But I make no guarantees that it will reappear.

Although the last BIOS update on 23 December has had a positive effect on stability, but it's not quite what I would expect.

I hope the next version will improve the system again soon.

I was looking at AMD security vulnerabilities and microbios yet the 4000 series processor family will get, or has gotten

AMD CPU Microcode Signature Verification Vulnerability

I just wanted to let you know that there are still some minor bugs, but I think the latest soon to be updated update may get some issues resolved.

Best regards 🙂

Hi @Kamil96500,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

You're right to be keeping an eye on BIOS updates, especially with AMD microcode vulnerabilities and performance concerns, your HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-ec1032nw:

As of now, the last BIOS update was released on December 23, which you mentioned already improved stability. There’s no newer BIOS listed yet. If released, your HP Support Assistant will notify you.

Since you’ve already updated drivers and refreshed Windows 11 24H2:

  • Keep using HP Support Assistant to check for BIOS updates weekly.
  • Monitor Task Manager during slowdowns to see if disk or memory spikes are involved.
  • Consider running HP Hardware Diagnostics (F2 at boot) to rule out hardware issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Thank you very much for your message.

I will look forward to the BIOS update every week.

It would be nice if there was still stability, because today I noticed that the hardware crashed for no reason (Windows was running normally). The latest non-security update at the end of July has a fix for this [but the chances will be low, so I preferred to inform you].

Sometimes when I close the system (processes are still running) then after playing especially the fans don't manage to switch off. Then when I switch on after a while there is a noise of the fans for a fraction of a second [as if they are jammed].

I'm hoping to get an update over the holidays 🙂

Greetings

Hi @Kamil96500,

Thank you for getting back.

Please try running a hardware test on the Pc and let me know the result so we can try to get all the help.

Extensive Test -

1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
3. On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.
4. Click Extensive Test.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

I ran the tests as you recommended and all is fine.

The first time I aborted because I had a laptop plugged in under power, the second time it went fantastically.

After updating Windows 11 24H2, the freezes disappeared (not completely, but minimised), but the system slowdowns are noticeable, especially when transferring files from one drive to another.

Hi @Kamil96500,

Thanks for sharing that. The Windows 11 24H2 update has introduced performance improvements for many users, but it's not uncommon to experience slowdowns during file transfers, especially if certain drivers or background services aren’t optimized post-update.

1. Update Storage Drivers

  • Go to Device Manager > IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers or Storage Controllers
  • Right-click and update drivers
  • Or download from:
    • Intel Rapid Storage Technology
    • HP Support Drivers

2. Check Disk Health

  • Run CMD as administrator and type: chkdsk C: /f
  • Also, check SSD health using tools like CrystalDiskInfo

3. Disable Windows Search Indexing Temporarily

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc
  • Find Windows Search, right-click → Stop

4. Adjust Power Settings

  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options
  • Set to High Performance or HP Recommended

5. Monitor Background Activity

  • Open Task Manager > Performance > Disk
  • Check if any process is using high disk I/O during transfers

 I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
