For starters, would replacing the thermal paste on the cpu and gpu on my laptop void the warranty? Temperatures are good, not great, and I've had to use intel extreme tuning app to limit the amount of current and voltage on the CPU to keep it below 80 degrees c when at 100%.

I also think the laptop could do better on default thermal throttling. On default mode without any of my tweaks, my CPU routinely hit 95 degrees in intensive games. After my tweaks i'm at a much more comfortable 65-75 degrees, but of course i've limited the maximum performance of the cpu.

I'm not sure why HP lets the i7 9750h use its full 45 watts. The cooling solution is not sufficient to cool that much power unless its a thermal paste issue. However, keeping the CPU under 30 watts ensures that it stays below 80 degrees. Furthermore, by default, unless I force enable intel speed shift, the CPU also locks at 4GHz, which means average temperatures float around 60 degrees. With my changes the average temperature is down to 45 degrees. Surprisingly the GPU never gets above 60 degrees. Has anyone else experienced the same thing or had to take steps like me to ensure that their laptop was protected from excessive thermals?

Replacing the Thermal Paste or any Internal components will void the warranty

Try updating the BIOS from this Link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers and check if that helps
