Thanks for the help! I'll try troubleshooting some more, though it's strange that a $1,500 laptop would have simple issues already after only three months. I'll keep you posted.

So I went to Geek Squad at Best Buy and told them my issues with the r key, I had to wait around over a week until my computer was ready to be picked up. They said a cord was unplugged and they connected it back. brought it back home and the issue persisted exactly the same.

So I went back to the Geek Squad at Best Buy once again and told them that my problem wasn't fixed and explained to them once again the issue in more depth "me thinking that it could have been a simple mistake." I waited only a few days until my computer was already magically ready to be picked up. I went in and they said they replaced the r key??? I took it back home and tested it to once again find the EXACT SAME PROBLEM. Then I read on the paper that it said "No fault found".

Honestly what am I suppose to do anymore as the Geek Squad failed two times to fix my issue. I'm going back tomorrow to see if I can REALLY explain to the manager my issue or replace it with a new Omen 15 if that's possible. While I'm waiting a week for my computer "to be fixed", there's some guy who touches the r key and says it works fine. Do they even test your computer???

I don't think that there is anything Geek Squad can really do besides send it to HP. Your computer came with a 1 year manufacturer warranty from HP. I would call them, work with a technician to see if they can fix it, and send it to them directly if needed. It will probably take a while but it should be better than Geek Squad.

Thanks for helping me out Mitch! Calling a technician would probably be better, however I went back to geek squad and told them that spamming the WASD keys for a few minutes gets the r key to stop working. For others experiencing the same issue, make sure to tell geek squad how to reproduce the error so they won't send it back as "No Fault Found". Therefore they replaced the keyboard, which fixed the issue.

Have the same issue on the same model, did they replace the whole keyboard? There are no hp service centers in my country so the retailer i bought it from says it would take 4-6 weeks to get it repaired and i am currently in the middle of my final year project, do they sell the keyboard separately?

You could probably find a keyboard somewhere online but I would strongly encourage you not to attempt the repair on your own. Getting to the keyboard requires removing basically every component from inside the laptop, you cannot access from the top of the machine. Unless you are a professional, it is extremely easy for you to damage your laptop during this process. These machines are built to a much tighter spec than a desktop diy pc. Also, taking it apart so completely may void your warranty, especially if it is damaged in the process. If there are any 3rd party repair centers closer to you, I might consider at least getting a quote from them for the repair, though this would probably be an expensive option for a fairly new laptop. If you can live with the issue long enough to get through your work, you probably should. You can plug in an external keyboard if the 'r' interrupts you a lot. If you call HP, they may also be able to send you a loaner laptop while you wait for the repair, though this might not be available in your country and/or shipping may take a long time.

Yeah, will have to send it in for repair after all i guess, just hoping that it wont take longer than 4-6 weeks, and i don't think i can get a loaner here, but i will contact the hp support again, thanks for the help ^^

Hello praveen,

It is not software problem. Its hardware issue. you need to replace the keyboard. Many of the customers reported same problem in Omen laptop. Also there is no spares available in service centers. So better use external keyboard.
