Pavilion Gaming 16

Product number 2C387UA#ABA

Hi, last summer purchased the HP Pavilion Gaming 16. I want to upgrade the RAM. I'm looking at the Crucial 2 8GB strips DDR4 3200 260 pin. Over on Best Buy Q and A the laptop is listed it handles 2933, however the 2 4GB strips are listed at 3200 installed on laptop system. My first question would these Crucials work? Second if the system handles in 2933, could I put in the 3200's and would the laptop adjust it to 2933 for operation (I understand that it can't go over 2933 if that's the specs) But seeing they put 3200 in the factory, I just want to make sure this is correct before I proceed. Thank You in advance

Hi:

Below is the link to the Crucial memory report for your notebook.

Yes, you would want  the DDR4-3200 memory, which will automatically adjust to 2933 MHz if that is the fastest speed the processor/chipset can run the memory at.
