pavilion 17-ab017ur
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hallo!

I need to have 32Gb of RAM machine.

Can I upgrade machines Pavilion 17-ab017ur (and all laptops ab000 series) and OMEN 17-w010up (and all laptops w000 series)?

Other manufacturers, who make laptops on Intel HM170 platforms + 2 DDR4 RAM slots, write it possible (2x16). How about yours?

Thanks!

Hi,

The maximum is 16 GB (8 + 8), no module supports 16GB RAM

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05123465

Two SODIMM slots, not customer accessible or upgradeable:
● DDR4-2133 dual channel support
● DDR4-2400 dual channel support (bridge to DDR4–2133)
Supports up to 16 GB max system memory with the following:
● 4096 MB (4096 MB x 1)
● 6144 MB (2048 MB x 1 + 4096 MB x 1), no support for 32-bit OS
● 8192 MB (4096 MB x 2) or 8192 MB (8192 MB x 1), no support for 32-bit OS
● 12288 MB (8192 MB +4096 MB), no support for 32-bit OS
16384 MB (8192 MB x 2), no support for 32-bit OS or Windows® 7 Home Basic

I have a similar Laptop (the ab000nv) with identical specs. Just with an added SSD or something.

I tried HyperX Impact HX424S14IBK2/32 Notebook Memory 32 GB Kit (2 x 16 GB) 2400 MHz DDR4 CL14 SODIMM, 1.2 V, 260-Pin.

It does not look to work when both modules are used.

If one module 16GB is used then it works. A 16Gb module mixed with the 4GB module it works.

I don't know what the hell. Nobody seems to care and give me an advice. I can not affort buying another kit.

Who does not care? The advice is that the maximum memory is 16 gigs total. Nobody told you that 2 x 16 would work but you bought the memory. Now what advice are you looking for?

Sorry brother. Didn't mean to insault you. If it is the 16GB module that caused the problem then I accept full responsibility.

Yes your maximum memory is 2 x 8 gig modules. I hope you can return the 32 gig kit.

Hi friend. Thanks for your advice. Yes I managed to return it back to Amazon where I bought it.

I will buy that 2x8gb. Though I am not so sure if I have a second chance to return, this time !

From your post counter I am sure you know what you are talking.

I've created a new post to avoid confusion from the previous posts and have a better clarity (excuse the Typo) 🙂

Better quality? Seriously....do you think you have any information that suggests you CAN put 32 gigs in his machine? The answer has already been provided and continuing to post non-specific, generic "depends on the motherboard" answers is not helping the quality.
