Hello @Bryan-pavilion
Are you looking at the Specs or the Manual?
Your system came with 8GB but it can use up to 16GB total.
Your manual... http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05985643
If you are still under warranty, you will want to consider possibly voiding it if you break something in the process. If you are still under warranty and you need to return the laptop to Support for repairs, you will have to re-install the old memory first so its its back to factory specs. If you are not under warranty, then no worries.
If you are going to simply add one extra 8GB stick to total 16GB, you need to match the timings and voltage of the original stick first. CPUz is a good tool to find the timings. Otherwise you can purchase a new set of matching memory.
Let me know if there's other questions.

Thank you for your help.
Actually i'm using an HP pavilion
Intel core i5
Ram - 1x4gb & 1x16gb
Ssd - 256gb & HDD - 1tb
The HP pavilion 15 cx0077, i want to buy is
Intel core i7
Ram- 8gb + 16 intel optane
HDD 1tb.
I use software like Adobe illustrator / photoshop / indesign. Do you think the cx0077 will be ok to run these software with 8gb ram +16gb optane.

You were missing the two letters at the end of your model number, so I assumed you were in the USA which has different specs than those in other countries. It helps to give the FULL model number so I know what you have exactly.
Do you have the HP Gaming Pavilion - 15-cx0077?? now? Which one? Give me the Product ID number so I can understand more correctly what you have. Its in the HP Support Assistant.
Are you looking to upgrade the parts in it or are you wanting to purchase another PC? This is what is confusing with what you wrote.

Mauritius??? Sorry I cannot find anything that states anything about that specific area. So I don't know what that store is actually selling that you posted the image from. They don't specify the Full Model number or any Product ID number.
The only model I can find currently with CX0077 that has Optane and an i7 CPU is the USA version sold in Walmart.
Perhaps that store is importing the USA version through some third party? Or HP might have not listed the model number to begin with.
So I can only give you a generalized opinion of the specs you posted...
Yes an i7 8th gen will be better over all than an i5 7th gen for graphics work since it has Hyper-threading. I don't know what graphics card it will have since I cannot find the info. That makes a big difference for gaming also.
I am not a fan of Optane. I would much prefer an actual SSD instead. Use the HDD for storage. Actually you should also be using a USB HDD for 2nd backup. If you only have one copy of files, its not a copy.
For graphics work (adobe software), I would prefer 16GB depending on how intensive the work load is you do.
