My HP Omen is a certified refurbished model that I just bought online. It runs games wonderfully with it's 8GB GPU, but I want to speed up the processor and memory for even greater gaming potential.

You got lucky on the button issue.
I doubt it. The bios wont accept the upgrade, its only setup (bios) for the 7th gen. The 100 series that came out later uses the 8th gen.

Hello @General_Rooster
What is the product number of your Omen?
Open the HP Support Assistant to find it. It will be located at the bottom of the window.

OK thanks. You have this one...
It cannot be overclocked as the processor is locked.
The keyboard is red backlit. It is not controlled through the Omen Command Center.
You turn the keyboard lights on and off from the F5 key. You might have to press the FN key first, then F5.

Oh! Thank you for helping me to get the keyboard to light up. That helps so much when I am playing or using my computer in the dark. Are you sure that this model can't be overclocked though? The specs said that it could be overclocked whenever I bought it.

Do you have a link to the specs that said its overclockable?
Intel processors have to have the letter K at the end of the model number,,, ie: i7-7700K.
Yours is the i7-7700HQ. Not overclockable and none of the AN series has the ability. I'm sorry.
IF my post above answered your questions, please mark it as Solved.
Thanks.

I figured out how to get the omen button working. I updated windows 10 to the April release and installed the OCC. I'm going to see if I can now try to overclock. Do you think that's it's possible to upgrade my CPU to the 8th Gen i7 with this chipset and motherboard?
