OMEN by HP Transcend 16 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-u1000 (8N9K4AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

One of my laptop's two fans is making a clicking noise and I can see a lot of dust inside the fan. I've taken out the screws to try get the back panel off so I can access the fans and clean them.

No matter how hard I try, I can't take the back off.

I've tried slipping things into the gap, they are either too big or too flexible (from flathead screwdrivers to credit cards to sewing needles). I've tried using leverage and hooking something but same issue. I've even tried using a suction cup with string, one person pulling the string and another trying to get anything at all into the gap but there is no give in the back panel.

I have checked the maintenance manual, which is remarkably unhelpful. "Insert a thin, plastic tool in the seam between the top edge of the bottom cover and computer to release the cover"

I'm worried about the dust causing overheating and the clicking noise is really concerning.

Try watching OMEN laptops disassembly video from YouTube to get the idea and do it in correct way.

Hi,

This was the first thing I did.

They all say to slip a thin plastic tool into the gap but there is no gap. I already stated this didn't work.

Then you should get professional help. If any HP service center is near, visit there for opening the back panel as they have specialized tools. If not, then you can also visit a laptop repair shop but make sure they have good reviews and don't let them do anything else, just take their help to open the back panel, no repairs or anything.
