Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-e0000 (2V8Z6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Dear HP team,

I'm writing as a concerned and disappointed user regarding the lack of a battery charge limit feature (e.g., cap at 80%) on your consumer laptop models, such as the HP Victus series.

This functionality — which helps prolong battery lifespan and reduce environmental impact — has been available for years on devices from other manufacturers like Asus, Lenovo, and Dell, and even on your own business lines (e.g., EliteBook, ZBook).

Despite years of repeated requests from hundreds of users on your official forums, this feature still hasn’t been added to your mainstream laptops. It is difficult to understand why such a basic and increasingly essential feature is being withheld.

In an era where sustainability and device longevity are more important than ever, failing to include a charge limit setting means:

- Batteries degrade faster,

- Users must replace parts (or entire laptops) sooner,

- And the environmental footprint increases unnecessarily.

I respectfully urge HP to:
Seriously consider implementing this feature on consumer laptops via BIOS updates or your software (HP Support Assistant, OMEN Gaming Hub, etc.).
Clearly communicate your position and plans regarding this long-standing request.

Thank you for your attention. I truly hope for a transparent reply — and more importantly — real action.

Sincerely,

Bonjour HP,

Cordialement,

Your machine is NOT a business class machine therefore no such option/feature in BIOS. Please use the following guides to keep battery healthy

I am following up on your response, which unfortunately seems to ignore the message I originally sent -  a message I wrote in two languages (French and English) precisely to avoid any misunderstanding.

I have never claimed that my machine is a professional-grade device. What I regret is that a feature as simple, useful, and environmentally responsible as battery charge limiting is still missing from consumer models, while it is:

- offered by Asus, Lenovo, Dell, etc., even on their non-professional models,

- already present on your own professional HP ranges (EliteBook, ZBook),

- requested for years by hundreds of users on your forums.

Your reply, which boils down to saying “your machine is not a professional model” and providing generic links, unfortunately gives the impression that:

- you have not read my message in full,

- and that you are completely avoiding the core issue of durability and environmental responsibility.

I repeat: not offering a simple and already mastered feature means encouraging premature battery wear, promoting overconsumption, and increasing your environmental footprint — all at a time when companies should adopt a more responsible approach.

I strongly urge you to:

- reconsider this policy,

- or at the very least, communicate transparently on the commercial reasons justifying such a choice.

Without a clear response or serious consideration of this issue, I will feel compelled to consider sharing this more widely in public spaces, to raise awareness among other users.
In a context where ecological concerns and product sustainability are central, it is reasonable to expect concrete commitments from major brands like HP.

Sincerely,
