Hi
Since it's not good practice to use system Admin a/c routinely, I have created a standard account for day-to-day use (for anyone who's curious, this limits what any malware can do if you do somehow get infected).
Anyhow... this works fine with everything I run across all my PCs other than my Omen, where the Gaming Hub software seems to assume you are an admin and keeps bugging for admin account (mainly on a process called OmenHub.Overlay.Helper which is a utility which is for overlaying frame rates etc on the screen ). I do play games, but pretty casually, so I never use the overlay functions.
Things I've looked for :
- I can't seem to de-activate overlay functions (I don't use them, but I mean that I can't find anything in settings to de-activate this function)
- I've tried (via task manager) setting this one process to run as admin (effectively this trusts a process with that name, and you give it the admin creds)... but this hasn't worked and I still get bugged for admin on nearly every boot.
- There's no obvious way of uninstalling this tool (without uninstalling the whole of OmenHub I'd guess, but I don't want to do this as the Hub sets up the PC to optimise games etc)
Anyone found a way of doing this, or got an alternate way (to GamingHub) of switching the main configuration easily when starting games?
If HP read this -- feature request would basically be to not launch a process for a function I'm not using, or allow us to de-activate any function which requires admin for some reason without dropping the whole GamingHub...

Hi @JurorNumber8,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're encountering the "hp.omen.overlay.overlayhelper requires one-time UAC approval for non-admin accounts" message repeatedly on boot, here's what you need to know.
Expected Behavior: This message is normal the first time a non-admin account interacts with the OMEN Gaming Hub overlay, as it requires UAC (User Account Control) approval for proper functionality.
Recurring Prompts: If UAC approval was granted on another account but the message continues to appear each time you start your computer, it's not typical behavior. In this case, submitting a report via OGH Feedback is essential for further investigation.
How to Report the Issue via OGH Feedback:
- Launch the OMEN Gaming Hub application.
- Find and click the Feedback button.
- Under Feedback Type, select Issue.
- In the Comment section, briefly describe the problem you're experiencing.
- Tick the box for Automatically attach my log files… to include helpful logs for troubleshooting.
- Finally, click Send to submit your report.
By taking these steps, our OMEN Gaming Hub team can gather the information needed to resolve the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Many thanks for the reply... it's been extremely useful in pointing out how to report this properly -- and I have reported it and included Log files.
I'm not sure I fit into either of your Expected/Recurring Prompts situations. It is recurring, but the admin creds have been provided when this pops up on many occasions on this (standard) account. i.e. it's not the first time, it's every time, but the UAC has been granted on this account (and probably yonks ago on the same account when it was an admin). I recently switched the account to a standard to be a little safer (by creating a new account as my admin, then switching my main one down to standard).
BTW - I bought another family member an HP PC and they are getting the same issue having set up an admin account in order to switch their Microsoft one down to a "Standard" one on the PC.
I'll post here if the OGH time get back. Thanks again.

Thanks again. The post was most helpful - there's nothing else I need right now.
It's not a solution though, as it hasn't resolved the issue. I'll give the OGH team some time to give an actual resolution , and post it here, then mark the solutions. I have liked / kudos'd your response and marked as helpful.
