OMEN X 17
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Okay so basically my s barely works, I have taken off the cap, cleaned it out, taken off the foldy pieces, the problem has nothing to do with those. The s key only registers when i press down extremely hard, even the button, not the cap, but the literal button is having trouble. So how should i fix this or how do I replace my keyboard?

You say you've cleaned under the key and its still not working as it should?

If so, its a physical problem with the keyboard and that key. Its most likely physically failing.

If you are under warranty, contact HP Support for a warranty repair.

If you are not under warranty any longer, you would have to either replace the keyboard yourself, or start using an external keyboard. Those replacements are not available in all countries. So far I've only seen the USA version available from HP and its not cheap. I would need to know your exact Product number of your Omen to look it up.

The product number is located in the HP Support Assistant.

  • Go to the Start menu and scroll to H>HP Help and Support>HP Support Assistant.
  • Open the program and click on your computer in the list.
  • The Product Number will be listed either on the top or bottom of the window.

Let me know if I can answer any other questions.

I checked the warranty earlier today it expired last month!! I'm unlucky haha, anyways my product number is 2LV60UA#ABA.

I really would rather not use an external keyboard, would a repair service be able to do something for this?

OK, your model is sold in the USA.

Here is the parts list available for your model.

The  keyboard is #940605-001

You can order through that link if you decide to.

Here is the manual explaining how to access the insides if you want to tackle the job yourself, but it does not explain how to remove the keyboard itself. If you're not very tech inclined, then its better to get a shop to do it. You would have to remove the whole motherboard assembly to do it.

May or may not be worth the cost?
