@MATT77777 , Welcome to HP Support Community!
No, you generally cannot use a SATA SSD/HDD flex connector from another HP Pavilion model, like the 15-cr, for your HP 15-ec2087ax.
Hard drive flex cables are often specific to a particular laptop model or series. They vary in:
-
Length and Shape: The physical dimensions and bends of the cable need to fit precisely inside your laptop's chassis.
-
Connector Type and Pinout: While both might be for SATA, the tiny connector that plugs into the motherboard can be different in size, pitch, or pin assignment between different model series. Using the wrong one could potentially damage your motherboard or the SSD/HDD.
Since the SSD suddenly stopped working, replacing the SATA flex connector cable is a logical troubleshooting step after checking the SSD itself in another device.
To ensure you get the right part for your HP 15-ec2087ax, you need to find the specific HP Part Number for the HDD/SSD cable assembly.
-
HP Maintenance and Service Guide: Search online for the "Maintenance and Service Guide" for the HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2000 series (or similar, like 15-ec1000). This guide usually contains an exhaustive list of spare parts and their corresponding HP Part Numbers.
-
Look for the Part Number: The hard drive cable assembly is often listed with a part number like DD0G3JHD011 or DD0G3HHD011 for the HP 15-ec series (also known as the Pavilion Gaming 15).
-
Purchase Options: Once you have the exact part number, you can look for it at:
-
HP Part Store: This is the most reliable source for genuine parts, although it might be the most expensive.
-
Online marketplaces (eBay, AliExpress, Amazon, etc.): Search using the laptop model number (HP 15-ec2087ax or HP 15-ec) and the part number (e.g.,
DD0G3JHD011). Be sure to buy from a reputable seller and verify the cable is for the 15-ec series.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
