Hi @jsjbjjjjddjjnde, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Victus Gaming Laptop comes with a Gen 4 SSD but is only providing around 1500 MB/s read and write speeds, here are some possible reasons and solutions:

Possible Causes & Fixes

SSD Running in PCIe 3.0 Mode Instead of PCIe 4.0

  • Your SSD might be running at PCIe 3.0 speeds due to BIOS settings or motherboard limitations.
  • Solution:
    • Go to BIOS (Press F10 at startup).
    • Check if there’s an option to enable PCIe 4.0 mode (this setting might be under Advanced > Storage Configuration).

Incorrect SSD Slot Usage

  • Some gaming laptops have two M.2 slots: one that supports PCIe 4.0 and another that supports only PCIe 3.0.
  • Solution:
    • Check your laptop’s manual and ensure the SSD is installed in the PCIe 4.0 supported slot.

Outdated SSD Firmware or Drivers

  • Older firmware can limit SSD speeds.
  • Solution:
    • Check your SSD manufacturer’s website for firmware updates.
    • Update Storage Controller Drivers in Device Manager → Expand Storage Controllers → Right-click on NVMe Controller → Select Update Driver.

Windows Power Settings Limiting Performance

  • Windows may be running in a power-saving mode that limits SSD speeds.
  • Solution:
    • Open Control PanelPower Options → Set to High Performance or Ultimate Performance.

Background Processes or Thermal Throttling

  • If your laptop is running hot, SSD speeds may be throttled.
  • Solution:
    • Ensure proper cooling and check SSD temps.

Factory SSD May Be Slower than Expected

  • Some OEM-installed SSDs, even PCIe Gen 4, may have slower speeds due to lower-end NAND flash memory.
  • Solution:
    • Consider upgrading to a faster Gen 4 SSD.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
