Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-r0000 (76S99AV)

Hello !

I recently purchased an HP Victus 16 laptop, but I'm experiencing a screen backlight issue. On the bottom-right side of the screen, I notice blurred light spots that change in intensity when I move or adjust the screen with my hand. This is particularly noticeable in darker scenes or on black backgrounds. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Could this be a hardware defect, and what steps should I take to resolve it? Any advice on troubleshooting or contacting HP support in Tunisia for a repair or replacement would be greatly appreciated.

@frg1220, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Screen Backlight Issue on HP Victus 16!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you're experiencing blurred light spots on your HP Victus 16 laptop, it could be indicative of a hardware defect. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Steps to Troubleshoot:

Visual Examination:

  • Check for any visible damage or debris on the screen that might be causing the issue.

Reset and Update:

  • Reset and update the BIOS and ensure all drivers, especially for the display, are up to date.

Test External Display:

  • Connect your laptop to an external monitor to check if the issue is replicated. If the external display works fine, the issue is likely with the laptop's screen.

Screen Settings:

  • Adjust screen brightness and see if changes in brightness affect the blurred light spots.

Run Diagnostics:

  • Use the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) tool to run component tests, including the video and display tests to determine if there's a hardware issue.

Perform Safe Mode Boot:

  • Boot Windows in safe mode to see if the issue persists, which can help rule out software-related causes.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Thank you for your reply. It is indeed a hardware issue, I think the bezel wasn't placed in the right way when the laptop was assembled. I contacted the vendor and I was checking with the repair center in location, they told me that they can't do anything and the screen is ok, while it's not in my eyes. The laptop is well updated with latest stable updates in BIOS, OS and drivers. I even tried the UEFI tool. The problem appears widely when increasing the brightness of the screen.

Ultimately, based on an answer on What'sapp from Hp Support Team, it seems this issue cannot be solved. To be honest, I'm disappointed, but that wouldn't help any of us. Ive got to adapt with it. Thanks !

Hello and thanks for reply! It seems that it's a hardware issue, Ive contacted my vendor and went 2 times to the repair center in my location, they told me there is no problem with the screen, even after successfully demonstrating the issue ! I even got int ouch with the Hp Support on What'sapp and even with a video showing the issue, they told me that they can't do anything as that is the design of the laptop ! I'm really disappointed.

By the way, I saw in another discussion a similar problem and an Hp employer replied and recognized that it's a hardware issue, So I don't understand  why, in my location, my request got rejected?!

Thanks in advance
