I have an HP Victus, the age of the laptop is a 1-2 years. I am having issues that the screen is flickering to black, sometimes short bursts, sometimes only once, and sometimes it goes for a very long time and will take me back to the lock screen even though I set my laptop to never sleep when plugged in. Once it was so bad I could not turn the laptop off although its on because when I plug my mouse the mouse lights up but nothing is on my screen, that went on for about half an hour. I have tried by uninstalling my display adapters from device manager and the problem persists, I have also tried completely restarting my pc to factory settings and the problem persists, do you know some potential fixes I can do?

@Haddock11, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Check for Hardware Issues

External Display Test: If you have access to an external monitor or TV, try connecting your laptop to one. If the flickering issue persists on the external display, then the issue is likely related to your GPU or software. If the issue doesn't appear on the external display, it could be a hardware problem with the laptop’s built-in screen or cables.

Update Graphics Drivers

Update/Reinstall GPU Drivers: Even though you've tried uninstalling the display adapters, ensure you're using the most up-to-date drivers for your GPU (NVIDIA or Intel). Sometimes, Windows might reinstall generic drivers that don't work well with your hardware.

Rollback Driver: If you recently updated your drivers and the problem started after that, try rolling back to the previous version to see if the issue resolves.

BIOS/UEFI Update

Update BIOS: An outdated BIOS can sometimes cause compatibility or hardware issues. Head to HP's support site, find your specific model, and check if there’s a newer BIOS version available. Sometimes BIOS updates can address GPU issues or display-related problems.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
