Hi @Tezzi_6620

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how unsettling it must feel to see the screen flicker when connecting or disconnecting power, especially on a notebook that’s just a few weeks old. Thank you for noticing and sharing the details—it helps us narrow down the cause.

Let’s go through a structured set of steps to stabilize the display.

Step 1: Power Reset

  • Shut down the notebook completely.
  • Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery if it is removable.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to discharge residual power.
  • Reconnect the battery and adapter, then power on the notebook.

Step 2: Update Graphics Drivers

  • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  • Go to Update & Security > Windows Update and install all available updates.
  • For drivers, visit HP’s driver page and download the latest graphics driver for your model:
    HP Software and Driver Downloads

Step 3: Adjust Power Settings

  • Open Control Panel > Power Options.
  • Select your active plan and click Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings.
  • Expand Display > Enable adaptive brightness and set it to Off for both battery and plugged in.
  • Apply changes and restart the notebook.

Step 4: BIOS Update

  • Restart the notebook and press Esc repeatedly, then select F10 for BIOS Setup.
  • Check the BIOS version.
  • If outdated, update BIOS using the HP Support Assistant or directly from HP’s site:
HP PCs - Updating the BIOS

Step 5: Test on Battery and AC

  • Run the notebook on battery only and observe the display.
  • Then connect the adapter and check again.
  • This helps confirm if the flicker is linked to power transitions or display settings.

By refreshing the drivers, adjusting power settings, and updating BIOS, you give the notebook a clean environment to stabilize the screen during power changes.
