Hello,I’m currently experiencing a weird issue on my victus 16 rtx 4060, as shown in the video, when I start a game the screen flickers and turn off and the pc goes to standby mode and keeps flickering for a while.
This started awhile ago but it was a rare occurrence and I didn’t think much of it, but now it’s systematic. I even experienced it with just playing a YouTube video.
Anyone had the same issue with their laptop and have any solutions?
Nb 1 : in the video I turned the fans on max settings because I thought the issues might be an overheating gpu but it didn’t change anything
Nb 2 : in the video the laptop started acting weird after just 5 minutes of launching Elden ring.

Hi @Mehdi_Anes,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you’re dealing with a persistent and frustrating issue. Here are some steps you can try to diagnose and potentially fix the screen flickering and standby issues on your Victus by HP 16:
1. Update Graphics Drivers
Ensure your graphics drivers are up-to-date. Go to the NVIDIA website and download the latest drivers for the RTX 4060. You can also use the NVIDIA GeForce Experience software for updates.
2. Update BIOS and System Drivers
Check for BIOS updates and system driver updates on the HP Support website. Sometimes, updates can resolve hardware compatibility issues.
3. Check for Overheating
Even though you’ve turned the fans on max settings, overheating could still be a factor. Clean the vents and fans of any dust and ensure proper airflow. You might also want to use a cooling pad.
4. Examine Power Settings
Go to Control Panel > Power Options and make sure your power plan is set to High Performance. Additionally, adjust the advanced power settings to ensure the laptop is not set to enter sleep mode too quickly.
5. Check for System Errors
Run a system scan to check for errors:
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Run sfc /scannow to check for and fix system file corruption.
- Run chkdsk /f to check for and fix disk errors.
6. Test in Safe Mode
Boot into Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. If it doesn’t, the problem might be related to software or drivers.
7. Check for Software Conflicts
Sometimes third-party applications or even browser extensions can cause issues. Try disabling or uninstalling unnecessary programs and extensions to see if it helps.
8. Run Diagnostics
HP laptops often come with built-in diagnostics tools. Restart your laptop and press the ESC key repeatedly to access the Startup Menu, then press F2 to run hardware diagnostics.
9. Check Display Settings
Ensure your display settings are configured correctly. Go to Settings > System > Display and check the refresh rate and resolution settings.
10. Consider a Factory Reset
As a last resort, you might want to perform a factory reset. Make sure to back up your data before doing this.

I hope this helps.
