Hi @Sibi79,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I’m really sorry to hear your Omen suddenly went dark. That must be incredibly stressful, especially since the CPU seems to work while the screen stays off. The blinking pattern (2 blinks followed by 3 blinks) is your laptop’s cry for help, a diagnostic code pointing to a hardware issue that needs quick attention.

What the Blinking Code Means

  • 2 slow blinks + 3 fast blinks on HP Omen typically indicate a memory (RAM) or motherboard problem.
  • In many cases, this follows an earlier BIOS or system board issue.

What You Can Try Now

1. Hard Reset (BIOS Power Drain)

  • Disconnect the AC adapter and, if removable, the battery.
  • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect the adapter (leave the battery out) and try powering on again.

This clears residual charge and can help fix BIOS-level glitches.

2. Reseat or Test the RAM

  • With the laptop powered off and unplugged, open the back panel.
  • Remove the RAM sticks, then reseat them securely.
  • If you have two sticks, test one at a time in different slots to isolate a faulty module.

Faulty or loosely inserted RAM often triggers this blinking cycle.

3. Run BIOS Recovery (if supported)

  • On laptops with BIOS recovery, create a bootable USB with the latest BIOS file from HP’s support page.
  • Plug it in and press Windows + B, then Power on while holding the keys.
  • If the recovery page appears, follow the on-screen instructions.

This can fix corrupted BIOS, which sometimes kicks off RAM/Motherboard errors.

4. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • While booting, tap Esc immediately, then press F2 to access Diagnostics.
  • Run full system scans, especially the Memory Test.
  • Any failed tests indicate a component (RAM or motherboard) needs repair or replacement.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
