This is the poorest design i have seen in a while. one heat sink for two chips barely does the job if the thermal paste job is 100 percent perfect. unfortuanately mine is not. i have dealt with high temps for almost a year. Its truly pathetic. Honestly i should have returned it when i noticed that there where missing screws on the inside but hey it worked. now almost a year later it is time for a repaste. it has to happen. there are two heatsinks. one looks like it is attached to the fan and it is holding some thermal pads that werent even covering the components. I managed to fix that. but the main heatsink that covered the i7 and rx580 has not one but THREE SCREWS SEIZED IN PLACE. honestly they prob have to be drilled out. the number 2 screw pushes the x clamp that was not properly seated and sealed to the bottom of the mother board. It is 2019. The customer should be able to take the machine completely apart without running into some botched heatsink screws. I really feel like the screws were over tightened to hide the broken x clamp. I have been a loyal hp customer. I have purchased head phones mouse keyboard laptops..... basically everything omen. This is the end of my relationship with HP. There is absolutely no excuse for this poor quality control. A door factory has better QC than this. They dont let **bleep** out. "Even if its functional". The repaste on a machine is a nessacary part in the machines life. It must be accessible. You should not have to cut screws and solder clamps. Thats faulty craftsmenship. The pads not even being in the correct place on the small heatsink is also poor work. I cant recommend a machine that is made to keep the user from taking apart. The amount of work required to get these screws out is going to be a pain. the x clamp may have to be soldered to the board. the clamp should not move.
Thats the first sign it should not leave the factory. im dont venting. when you feel like you can manufacture a machine that can be repasted and doesnt overheat right out of the box i will consider the buy. This machine is still in working order but thats because of my hard work. NOT HP!
