Hello,
i want to add a second SSD in my Laptop. I do not know what kind of SSD is compartible with it. There is a 512 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD already in the Laptop, according to the website. I have no idea how this looks like. I opened the laptop and there is something in both slots! But Windows says, that there is only one. I do not want to remove any part because i want to keep my data. I am totally aware that i have no idea at all. I am very sorry. If someone here knows more i would be very happy if you could help me.
I already looked for tutorials or similar things but there is none for the cd1641, only for cd0000tx. Are they the same? They look similar, but they dont have the same name...

You're very welcome.
Yes, you are correct.
What looks like a 2.5" hard drive is a black plastic 'dummy drive' that you have to remove and install a 2.5" SATA SSD or mechanical hard drive.
That is why it doesn't show up in Windows.
Fortunately, you have that because normally if the PC only comes with a NVMe SSD the parts aren't there to install a hard drive.

Hi:
From the information I could find, there is only one M.2 SSD slot in the model series according to the service manual
Maintenance and Service Guide HP Pavilion Gaming 17 Laptop PC
If you look at chapter 5 page 30 of the manual, it has an illustration of the location of the M.2 SSD.
Some models in the series also have a 2.5" hard drive.

hey, first of all: thank you so much for answering!
This is my laptop from the inside. I do understand now, that the SSD is under the silver cap-thing and the hard drive is the bigger black one with the hp logo. But there is only one drive in the disk management menu. I think that is the SSD with 475 GB storage. So how do i activate the hard drive?
