Pavilion Gaming laptop 15-dk0050nb
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi

Recently I installed a 1TB hard drive in this laptop whilst being on Bios version F.20. After I got everything to work I saw that my bios was quite outdated so I upgradede to the newer F.33. If I startup my computer now I run into the automatic recovery loop.

In f10 (bios setup utility) I can see that the ssd (with windows 10 on) is sometimes not listed or second in line after the hdd. I can't switch them around.

When I use f9 on startup however I can select my ssd and everything works (windows starts up as usual and I can do everything including making use of the hdd)

Does anyone know a solution to make the ssd the standard booting device again?

Thanks in advance

@OrkaXL The best way to get out of the Automatic Repair loop is to disable early launch anti-malware protection. You can do this from Command Prompt in the Windows Boot Options menu which will begin to appear after your restart your computer several times.

1) Navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings. Your computer will restart then present you with a list of options.

2) Choose "Disable early launch anti-malware protection".

3) Restart your PC and check if you can boot into Windows.

That said, I'm afraid HP neither recommends nor supports upgrades, if the issue has occurred as a result of the new 1tb drive, we suggest you check with a local tech for assistance on getting that fixed.
