Victus Gaming Laptop 15-fa1161TX

I Recently brough the gaming laptop for automatic testing , When it did not perform quite as well as expected It was suggested to disable SMT , I was able to locate this in the bios and disable. Unfortunately it did not help . I went back to reenable it and it is no longer in the bios . How do I reenable this in the bios

Hi @Linfo22,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

If the SMT (Simultaneous Multithreading) option is no longer visible in your BIOS after disabling it, here are some steps you can take to try to re-enable it:

Restart the Laptop: Sometimes, simply restarting the laptop can refresh the BIOS settings.

Access BIOS Again: 1) Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer. (Wait for a few seconds after releasing the power button)

2) Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu is displayed, press the f10 to access the BIOS menu.

Reset to Default Settings: Turn on the computer, and then press f10 repeatedly to enter BIOS. Under the Main tab, use the up and down arrow keys to select Restore Defaults, and then press enter. Click Yes to load the default settings. Under the Main tab, use the up and down arrow keys to select Save Changes and Exit, and then press enter. check if the SMT option reappears.

Check CPU Settings: If available, navigate to the CPU settings section. Sometimes, SMT might be listed under a different name like “Hyper-Threading” or "Multi-Core Support."

Update BIOS: Update the BIOS for your PC by clicking on the link.

Make sure you keep only the charger plugged in while updating the BIOS for your PC.

Click on the + sign next to BIOS and then download the file.

Open the file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day ahead!

Thank You Irwin , yes I had already tried most of that , reset bios and update bios did nothing , The only choice I havent tried is to disable hyper threading  ( I am scared it would also not be there after a restart) The item I disabled before was named SMT  . I got frustrated on Friday and engaged a chat bot but after two yours the agent said they would check with their manager and never came back . I can see the case but not any suggestions from it
