Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa1000 (771S5AV)

Sometimes my laptop stutters while I play games but when I restart the system it doesn't happen. So I have been using this laptop for a few weeks and this issue doesn't happen all the time. It happened 3 times and I don't know why. At first, I thought it was the games' performance issues, but now I don't think so. The first stutter happened after I downloaded and opened the game 2nd time. I was playing the game like 5-10 fps and then I tried to solve this issue and I did some research, did some settings and after it wasn't stuttering anymore. The second was like this too. The final one was when I opened Valorant. The game was 10 fps again and I restarted the laptop. The first restart didn't solve it but the second solved it. After, I looked through the internet and didn't find any solution. A few hours ago, I downloaded HP PC Hardware Diagnostic software and found out that the laptop's BIOS weren't up to date. I updated it but I'm not sure whether this was the solution or not. Can you help me?

Hi @Bagetson ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Certainly, I can provide you with some suggestions to help troubleshoot and potentially resolve the stuttering issues on your HP Victus gaming laptop. It's good that you've already updated the BIOS, as that can sometimes address performance and compatibility issues. Here are some additional steps you can take:

Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. Visit the official website of the GPU manufacturer (NVIDIA or AMD) and download the latest drivers for your specific graphics card.

Power Settings: Check your laptop's power settings. Make sure it is set to "High Performance" when gaming. You can adjust this in the power settings or use the dedicated software that might come with your laptop.

Temperature Monitoring: Overheating can cause performance issues. Use monitoring software to check the temperature of your CPU and GPU while gaming. If temperatures are too high, consider investing in a cooling pad or adjusting in-game settings to reduce the load on your hardware.

Background Processes: Close unnecessary background processes and applications while gaming. Some applications may use system resources and impact gaming performance.

Windows Updates: Ensure that your operating system is up to date with the latest Windows updates. Sometimes, updates include performance improvements and bug fixes.

Game Settings: Adjust in-game settings to find the right balance between performance and visuals. Lowering graphic settings can significantly improve frame rates.

Disk Cleanup: Perform a disk cleanup to free up space on your laptop. Insufficient disk space can impact overall system performance.

Check for Malware: Run a full system scan using your installed antivirus software to check for malware or unwanted programs that may be affecting performance.

Check for Background Downloads/Updates: Ensure that there are no background downloads or updates happening while you are gaming. These can consume bandwidth and system resources.

Memory (RAM): Check if your laptop has sufficient RAM for the games you are playing. If possible, consider upgrading your RAM for better performance.

BIOS Settings: Check the BIOS settings for any specific gaming-related options or optimizations. Consult your laptop's manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
