according to HP website your laptop only has a 2tb Sata hard drive spinning at 5400. Are you sure your laptop even has a slot for M.2?

It has both a SATA 2TB SSHD with is my secondary and it has  a M.2 PCIe slot 256gb SSD. I just found out that there is a NVMe type, B, M and B+M. I just dont want to get the wrong one.

Well if yours is PcIe then you have your answer. M is PcIe x4 and many B slots were sata or PcIe x2 B&M supports both. B is being phased out most new laptops have M or B&M. Or take the back off and have a look or even just take it to a store and ask. If they can't tell you then with the back off your laptop try PcIe x4 or M or let them try it at the store. M will not work if your motherboard doesn't support PcIe x4. Sata will pretty much always work because even computers with PcIe x4 usually support Sata as well. You are pretty much guaranteed it is PcIe x4 (M slot)

Wow you have really made me read a lot on the internet about this stuff!!! Making me more informed
