Does your laptop battery charge only when the laptop is turned off? Click here to view the solution

After using my Victus 16 computer all day for rendering with Twinmotion, I turned it off for an hour. When I powered it back on, it had issues: the screen does not turn on and the Caps Lock key blinks with a sequence of 5 slow flashes followed by 3 fast flashes.

The intense rendering work you were doing earlier, which generates a lot of heat, might have stressed a component on the motherboard, leading to the failure when you powered it back on.

Here are the steps you should take, starting with the easiest troubleshooting steps:

1. Perform a Hard Reset (Power Flush)

This clears all residual electrical charge from the laptop's capacitors and can sometimes resolve temporary hardware communication glitches.

  1. Turn off the laptop completely (if it's still on).

  2. Disconnect the AC adapter (charger).

  3. If your battery is removable (which is unlikely on a Victus 16), remove it. If the battery is internal (integrated), leave it.

  4. Press and hold the Power button for about 15 to 20 seconds. This drains all residual power.

  5. Reconnect the AC adapter (and the battery if you removed it).

  6. Try to power on the laptop.

If the laptop still fails to boot and the blinking code returns, proceed to the next step.

2. Attempt a BIOS Recovery

A corrupted BIOS can often trigger system board error codes. You can try to force the laptop to recover the BIOS using a key combination.

  1. Turn off the computer and disconnect the power cord.

  2. Press and hold the Windows key and the B key at the same time.

  3. While still holding those keys, plug the AC adapter back in.

  4. Continue holding the Windows and B keys for a few seconds.

  5. Press and hold the Power button for about one second, and then release the Power button (but keep holding the other two keys).

  6. Release the Windows and B keys when the HP BIOS Update screen appears or you hear a beeping sound.

Follow the on-screen prompts.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
