Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (599K0AV)

My battery started acting up suddenly. It was working fine before, but now it drains really fast ,I haven’t changed any settings or installed new updates recently. Has anyone else faced this issue or found a fix?

Hi @Aero1e2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for sharing the details about your Victus by HP 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (599K0AV). I understand the battery was working normally before and has suddenly started draining much faster. Since there were no recent changes, let's check the BIOS, recalibrate the battery, and run a battery health test.

1. Check and Update BIOS

An outdated BIOS can sometimes affect battery performance and power management. Please check your current BIOS version:

  1. Press Windows + R.
  2. Type msinfo32 and press Enter.
  3. Check the BIOS Version/Date.

If the BIOS version is older than F.34 Rev.A, please update it from the HP Support website: Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (599K0AV) Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support

Make sure the AC adapter is connected during the BIOS update and do not interrupt the process.

2. Perform Battery Calibration

Battery calibration helps the system accurately detect the remaining battery capacity.

  1. Charge the battery to 100%.
  2. Keep the charger connected for an additional 2 hours.
  3. Disconnect the charger and use the laptop normally until the battery level becomes low and the system powers off.
  4. Recharge it back to 100% without interruption.

3. Run Battery Test

If the battery drain continues, please run the HP Battery Test:

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Turn it on and repeatedly press Esc until the Startup Menu appears.
  3. Press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  4. Select Component Tests > Power > Battery Check.
  5. Note the result and any failure ID displayed.

The above steps should help identify whether the issue is related to BIOS, battery calibration, or battery health.

If the issue continues, please share:

  • Current BIOS version.
  • Battery test result/failure ID (if any).
  • Approximate battery backup time after a full charge.

We'll review the results and assist you further.

I'm an HP Employee.
