Hello!

My old gaming laptop's GPU recently bit the dust - the screen has the trademark purple tiny lines on it and it doesn't seem to be a screen issue - as it persists on other monitors. I've already built another PC to use for gaming, so I'd like to disable the dedicated GPU and just use the integrated graphics card so that It can still be usable for work (Youtube, email, and word document machine).

Just as a disclaimer - I've already tried updating the graphic driver, doing a clean install using DDU, and no matter what I do to install the driver the app says nothing is installed. So at this point the card is a goner.

The model of the laptop is an HP Omen 15 dc1xxx. I know through research there IS an integrated Intel card but it doesn't seem to show up on my device manager.

Oh also, I cannot switch via the Nvidia control panel either as the computer won't recognize the graphics card at all and even fully updated my BIOS has no option for graphics configuration.

Hi @MegKuli,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • The exact processor model in your HP Omen 15 (this helps confirm which integrated Intel GPU should be available).
  • Whether the integrated GPU option appears in BIOS at all, even if disabled.
  • If you’ve already tried reinstalling Intel chipset drivers or the Intel Graphics Command Center.
  • Whether Windows Device Manager shows any “Unknown devices” under Display adapters or Other devices.

In the meantime, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  • Enable Integrated Graphics in BIOS (if available): Some Omen models allow toggling between discrete and integrated graphics in BIOS. Double-check under Advanced or Video/Display settings.
  • Install Intel Graphics Driver: Download the latest Intel UHD driver directly from HP’s support page for your Omen 15 dc1xxx, or from Intel’s website. Even if the GPU doesn’t appear in Device Manager, installing the driver may force Windows to detect it.
  • Reset BIOS Settings: Perform a BIOS reset to default settings. Sometimes integrated graphics are disabled by default when a discrete GPU is present.
  • Windows Update: Run Windows Update fully, as it often pulls in Intel graphics drivers automatically.
  • Safe Mode Check: Boot into Safe Mode and see if the integrated GPU appears. If it does, reinstall drivers from there.
  • HP Support Assistant: Run HP Support Assistant to check for missing chipset or graphics drivers specific to your model.

If the integrated GPU still doesn’t show up, it may be disabled at the firmware level.

I hope this helps.
