hi all, I have a swollen SR04XL battery in HP OMEN LAPTOP. I bought the laptop a little longer than 2 years a go. My laptop also gets incredibly hot that I can't keep my fingers on the key " WASD ". I am wondering if I have to use this battery again or can I go for a newer version that will fit? I have no trust in this battery anymore. And how dangerous is this? It is so wollen that it is pushing the laptops bottom and upper cover parts apart from each other.

Batteries of this type (Ion) are used in notebooks, phones, and other devices.
Battery technology is not great (still kind of primitive) - it is what we have, though, and here we are...
"Fat" Battery / Bloated Battery / Swollen Battery
- If the battery is in a swollen or bloated condition, the battery must be removed from the computer and replaced.
- There are no other remedies, tests, or useful options.
HP Commercial and Consumer Notebook PCs - Swelling or Deformation of Notebook Battery
What to do?
The battery is bad - do not put it back into the computer.
If it has not already done so, it will fail.

Hi Dragon Fur,
Thank you for your reply.
I already checked for spare battery. I was hoping that there would be a different model available. I removed the battery for now and it is running without battery on the original power adapter.

You are welcome.
I get it.
I am purchasing a new battery for an old workstation - and I wish the tech were better by now. Meh. Good enough.
Stay Safe.
