System not Recognising New Battery

Hi all,

I recently posted an enquiry asking where I could find a replacement battery. I found an authentic HP part-for-part replacement and took great care installing it. However, the system is having trouble recognising the new battery and says 'unknown amount remaining'. I have been into the BIOS and the system is not registering the new part, despite the fact that my computer is running fine on battery power. Is there anything I can do to make the system recognise the new battery?

Thanks for the help,

Luke

System not Recognising New Battery

@Lukelb1

I have gone through your Post and I understand your concerns

Please reinstall the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery

Step 01. Click on the Start Button
Step 02. Type "Device Manager" in the start search box & open the Device Manager
Step 03. Look for Batteries and expand it by click on the + symbol on the left
Step 04. Right Click on "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" & uninstall
Note: This Battery driver will get re-installed automatically when you restart the Notebook again
Step 05. Please Shutdown the Notebook
Step 06. Remove the Battery and unplug the Power Adapter ( For Notebooks with Removable Batteries )
Step 07. Press and Hold the Power Button for full 1 Minute
Step 08. Go ahead and put back the Battery and connect the Power Adapter and restart

Next update the BIOS from this Link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

If the issue persists run a Battery Test to confirm the Hardware Functionality

- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Power > Battery

Let me know how it goes 😊

System not Recognising New Battery

Hi,

Just found time to try and install the battery again. I followed the directions but got the same problem when I booted up. The only other thing I can think of is that I bought an exact replacement of the battery (part number: 922753-421) but on the maintenance and service guide, it says to replace it with part number 922977-855 (there's also a sticker on the battery that says the same thing). I've bought that battery now and I'm going to give it a try in a few days. Not sure there's much else that I can do...
