This is a sudden development. The fans were pretty noiseless a couple days ago, but they now suddenly make a whirring noise. The laptop isn't overheating, so I don't know what to make of it. I think its probably dust accumulation, but does that account for how one fan is working so much more than the other?

Laptop works fine still, there is no lag in performance. I updated the BIOS and then tried using SpeedFan, but I don't think the motherboard allows it, fan speeds cannot be changed.

Help would be appreciated.

@Sapraaaa , welcome to the forum.

The symptoms that you describe are normally caused by the laptop needing to be cleaned.  Dust can develop on the fans and other components causing it to overheat.  This causes the fans to run faster to try to cool things down.  Here is a guide to cleaning your laptop.  It is very basic, but it may help.  If not, you may have to open the case to clean it more thoroughly.  Just be very careful not to damage anything in the process.
