Hi @AaronEVA,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Poor performance in Fortnite on your HP Pavilion Gaming 15 Laptop can be frustrating, especially when you've already updated your drivers and system. Here are several steps to help improve your game's performance.

Adjust In-Game Settings

  • Lower Graphics Settings: Set the graphics quality to low or medium.
  • Reduce Resolution: Lower the in-game resolution to improve performance.
  • Disable V-Sync: Turn off V-Sync in the game settings to reduce input lag.
  • Turn Off Shadows: Disabling shadows can significantly boost FPS.

Update Graphics Drivers

Ensure you have the latest drivers installed for your NVIDIA GPU:

  • Visit the NVIDIA website and download the latest driver for your graphics card.
  • Use the NVIDIA GeForce Experience to automatically update your drivers.

Optimize Windows for Gaming

  • Game Mode: Enable Game Mode in Windows settings (Settings > Gaming > Game Mode).
  • Background Apps: Close unnecessary background applications that may consume system resources.
  • Power Settings: Set your power plan to "High Performance" (Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options).

Check for Thermal Throttling

Overheating can cause performance issues. Ensure your laptop is well-ventilated and consider the following:

  • Clean Vents: Make sure the laptop's vents are not blocked or clogged with dust.
  • Use a Cooling Pad: A cooling pad can help maintain lower temperatures.

Adjust NVIDIA Control Panel Settings

  • Manage 3D Settings: Open the NVIDIA Control Panel, go to Manage 3D settings, and set "Power management mode" to "Prefer maximum performance."
  • Set Maximum Performance: In the same section, set "Preferred graphics processor" to "High-performance NVIDIA processor."

Update Windows

Ensure your Windows OS is up to date with the latest patches and updates:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for updates.

Check Fortnite for Updates

Ensure you have the latest version of Fortnite installed, as updates can include performance improvements and bug fixes.

Reinstall the Game

If the above steps do not improve performance, consider reinstalling Fortnite to ensure there are no corrupted files affecting gameplay.

Check System Requirements

Verify that your HP Pavilion Gaming 15 meets the system requirements for Fortnite:

  • Processor: Intel Core i3-3225 3.3 GHz or better.
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM.
  • GPU: Intel HD 4000 on PC; Intel Iris Pro 5200.
  • OS: Windows 7/8/10 64-bit.

Monitor Performance

Use tools like MSI Afterburner or NVIDIA GeForce Experience to monitor your system's performance (CPU, GPU usage, temperatures) during gameplay to identify any bottlenecks.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
