Hi.
The right hand side usb port of my laptop (victus gaming 15-fa000) only recognize external hdd. I tried many usb device such as USB flash, mouse, keyboard and so on... But no use. The weird thing is I connected a 4-output usb hub to it, and again it only recognize my external hdd while I connect other devices to the hub at the same time.
I installed some other OSes like arch Linux, Ubuntu and some other Linux distroes But everything was the same. So I guess it is not related to windows or the driver.
So... Do anyone know what is the problem?
Thanks.

Hi @ReMadza,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It seems like this could be a hardware-related problem, especially since the issue persists across different operating systems. When USB ports start acting up in this way, it could point to things like power delivery imbalances, physical damage, or even a problem with the USB controller on the motherboard. Sometimes ports can be finicky, giving just enough power for devices like external hard drives but struggling with lower-power devices like flash drives or mice.
Have you noticed any physical signs of wear on the port, like loose connections or bent pins? Cleaning it gently with compressed air might help if dust or debris is causing a bad connection. Also, trying a powered USB hub might give us a clue; if your devices work through the hub, then it’s likely a power delivery issue with the port itself.
Updating BIOS and USB controller drivers is always worth a shot too. Firmware updates can sometimes fix weird compatibility issues, especially on laptops like your Victus. And resetting the embedded controller by draining residual power from the system can sometimes clear up these quirks as well.
If none of this works, though, it might be time to consider hardware repairs. A failing USB controller or damaged internal connections could be the culprit.
Let me know where things stand on your end!
