Problem Summary

The system reports that no Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is available, and the message suggests checking BIOS settings. The Security Processor Details page indicates:

  • Attestation: Not ready

  • Storage: Not ready

As a result, security features that require TPM (e.g., BitLocker, device encryption, Windows Hello) are currently unavailable.

Although TPM and Secureboot is enabled in BIOS.

I have tried adding TPM 2.0 manually from the device manager but it goes hidden.

System Details

  • OS: Microsoft Windows 11 Home Single Language (Version 10.0.26100, Build 26100)

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600H with Radeon Graphics, 6 cores / 12 threads, 3.30 GHz

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650

  • RAM: 8 GB Installed Physical Memory

  • Storage: 512 GB SSD (approx.)

  • BIOS Version/Date: AMI F.30, 23-Apr-2025

  • BIOS Mode: UEFI

  • Secure Boot: OnScreenshot 2025-08-27 014559.pngScreenshot 2025-08-27 122229.png

  • Virtualization-based Security: Enabled (Hypervisor Enforced Code Integrity)

  • Kernel DMA Protection: On

Because of this I am not able to play online games which requires TPM 2.0Screenshot 2025-08-27 122527.png

Hi @Abhi2992,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding TPM issues!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Verify BIOS Settings:

  • Restart your computer and enter the BIOS setup (typically by pressing F10 during boot).
  • Navigate to the Security settings in the BIOS.
  • Ensure that TPM Device is set to "Available" and TPM State is enabled.
  • Check that Secure Boot is also enabled.

Check TPM Configuration:

  • Verify that the TPM is properly configured. Sometimes clearing and re-enabling TPM can resolve configuration issues.
  • In BIOS, select the option to Clear TPM. Note that this will delete all TPM-stored keys, so ensure you back up important data first.
  • After clearing, re-enable TPM.

Check Windows Settings:

  • Open the Device Manager in Windows.
  • Ensure that the TPM is listed under "Security Devices". If not, look for any unrecognized devices and update their drivers.
  • Run "tpm.msc" (Trusted Platform Module Management) from the Run dialog (Win + R) to view TPM status and ensure it’s recognized by Windows.

Updates:

  • Make sure your system has the latest BIOS updates from HP. Updates can resolve many issues with hardware feature recognition and compatibility.
  • Update Windows to ensure compatibility with TPM functionality, especially after BIOS changes.

System Restore:

  • If the issue persist, consider performing a system restore to a point before the problem began.

I hope this helps.

I am still facing an issue with the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) functionality on my HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop, which is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 5 processor and NVIDIA GTX 1650 GPU. Although TPM 2.0 is enabled in BIOS, Secure Boot is active, and the system is running in UEFI mode, Windows reports that TPM is not usable. The Device Encryption Support section shows: “Reasons for failed automatic device encryption: TPM is not usable, PCR7 binding is not supported.” Additionally, the TPM Management Console (tpm.msc) and PowerShell command get-tpm indicate that TPM is either not detected or not ready for use.

In Device Manager, under Security Devices, only AMD PSP 10.0 Device is listed, while Trusted Platform Module 2.0 is hidden or missing. I have already ensured that fTPM is enabled in BIOS, updated Windows, and verified UEFI and GPT configuration. Despite these steps, BitLocker cannot be enabled (error 0x8028400F), and the system does not recognize a compatible TPM device.

I have also attempted driver updates, TPM initialization, and registry fixes, but the issue persists. It appears that the AMD PSP firmware or related drivers are not properly exposing TPM 2.0 to the operating system.

Please advise on how to resolve this issue so that TPM 2.0 is recognized and usable for device encryption and security features.
Please try to avoid any GPT or AI for reply.

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi @Abhi2992,

Thank you for the detailed follow-up and for already trying so many of the right steps, that really helps narrow things down. I know it’s frustrating when TPM is enabled in BIOS but Windows still refuses to recognize it, so let’s try a few additional checks.

Re-check BIOS fTPM option

Restart the laptop and press F10 to enter BIOS.

Under Advanced → Trusted Computing / Security, confirm that fTPM (Firmware TPM) is set to Enabled.

If it’s already enabled, try toggling it: disable → save changes → reboot → then re-enable fTPM and reboot again.

This forces the firmware to reinitialize the TPM.

Clear the TPM from BIOS

Still in BIOS, look for the option to Clear TPM / fTPM.

This will wipe stored TPM keys (so if you had BitLocker or encryption enabled, back up recovery keys first).

Save changes, restart, and then let Windows detect the TPM fresh.

AMD PSP / Chipset drivers

The “AMD PSP 10.0 Device” you see is part of the Platform Security Processor, which exposes fTPM.

Go to [HP’s support page for your Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2xxx model] and download the latest BIOS, chipset drivers, and AMD PSP driver.

Even if Windows Update says drivers are current, reinstalling directly from HP often resolves this type of mismatch.

Windows check after driver/firmware update

After reinstalling, open Run → tpm.msc and check if the TPM 2.0 is now visible.

You can also run in PowerShell:

get-tpm

to confirm readiness.

BitLocker/Device Encryption retry

Once TPM shows as “Ready for use,” try enabling BitLocker again.

If it still errors out, open Event Viewer → Windows Logs → System and look for TPM-related warnings, which can give clues.

If the above doesn’t bring TPM back, it may be a firmware compatibility issue. In that case, the best next step would be to:

Perform a BIOS recovery/re-flash with the latest version from HP’s site.

I know this has been a lot of back-and-forth already, but you’re on the right track, this usually comes down to a driver or firmware re-sync between Windows and the AMD PSP.

Keep us posted on how it goes after trying the driver and BIOS refresh. We’ll stay with you until this is sorted.
