My laptop starts throttling when it surpasses 75C......All games starts to drop FPS , this repeats periodically after reaching the 75C temp....I replaced thermal from the nearby HP service center but it still persist , I checked for updates its all updated ...... @Anooj05, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Experiencing throttling issues can be frustrating, especially when it affects gaming performance. Here are a few suggestions to mitigate the throttling issue on the Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop:
Cooling Optimization:
- Ensure Proper Ventilation: Make sure your laptop is placed on a hard, flat surface to allow for adequate airflow. Avoid using it on soft surfaces like beds or couches that can block vents.
- Use a Cooling Pad: Consider using an external cooling pad that can provide additional airflow and help keep temperatures down.
Performance Settings:
- Adjust Power Settings: In Windows, you can try setting your power plan to "Balanced" or "Power Saver" instead of "High Performance" to reduce heat generation.
- Enable a Frame Rate Cap: Some games allow you to set a maximum frame rate, which can help keep temperatures in check by preventing the GPU from working harder than necessary.
Software Management:
- Monitor Background Processes: Close any unnecessary applications running in the background that could be consuming CPU resources.
- Use Game Mode: Activate Windows Game Mode, which optimizes your system for gaming by managing system resources efficiently.
Hardware Considerations:
- Check Fans and Dust: Make sure the internal fans are working correctly and that dust is not obstructing the air vents, as this can contribute to overheating. Cleaning can be done carefully or by a professional if preferred.
Advanced Thermal Management:
- BIOS Update: Occasionally, manufacturers release BIOS updates to address thermal and performance issues. Check the HP website for any available BIOS updates for your model.
- Use Performance Tuning Software: Sometimes, adjusting parameters using software like AMD’s software suite (if compatible with your GPU) could allow for more granular control over power and thermal boundaries.
I hope this helps.
