Hi @Vishal702,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your PC!

It sounds like your touchpad intermittently stops working and disappears from settings. This could be due to driver issues, hardware connection problems, or power management settings. Here are some troubleshooting steps to fix the issue:
Enable the Touchpad with Shortcut Keys
Some laptops have a function key (Fn) that can disable the touchpad. Try pressing:
Fn + F7 or Fn + F9 (varies by laptop model).
If your laptop has a dedicated touchpad disable button, ensure it's not turned off.
Update or Reinstall Touchpad Drivers
Your touchpad may be disappearing due to driver corruption. Follow these steps:
A) Update Drivers via Device Manager
Press Windows + X → Click Device Manager.
Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
Right-click on your Touchpad driver (may be listed as “HID-compliant touchpad” or “Synaptics/ELAN Touchpad”).
Click Update driver → Search automatically for drivers.
B) If the Touchpad Is Missing
Go to Device Manager → Click View → Show hidden devices.
If your touchpad appears faint (grayed out), right-click it and select Enable.
If it still doesn’t work, Uninstall the driver and restart your PC.
Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.
C) Install Drivers Manually
If the issue persists, download the latest touchpad driver from HP’s official website:
HP Support & Drivers
Disable Touchpad Power Management
Windows may be turning off the touchpad to save power.
Open Device Manager.
Right-click the touchpad driver and select Properties.
Go to the Power Management tab.
Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."
Click OK and restart your PC.
Check BIOS Settings
If your touchpad keeps disappearing, it might be disabled in BIOS.
Restart your laptop and press Esc / F2 / F10 / Del (depends on model) to enter BIOS.
Navigate to Advanced Settings.
Find Internal Pointing Device and ensure it is Enabled.
Save changes and exit.
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
HP laptops have a built-in hardware diagnostic tool.
Turn off your laptop.
Press F2 repeatedly while turning it on.
Select Component Tests → Touchpad Test to check for hardware faults.
Check for Windows Updates
Go to Settings → Windows Update.
Install any pending updates, as they may include touchpad fixes.
