Dear HP Support Team,

I am writing to report an issue with the touchpad on my HP Victus laptop. The touchpad is currently not functioning at all within the Windows environment. However, it does work in the BIOS menu, indicating that the hardware itself may be functional.

Issue Description:

The touchpad/mousepad is not working in Windows.

The "Mice and other pointing devices" section is missing from Device Manager.

The touchpad works in BIOS but becomes unresponsive once Windows loads.

Troubleshooting Steps Already Tried:

Power reset (power flash)

Reinstallation of drivers

System checks via HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (Windows)

No improvement after completing the above steps

I would appreciate your guidance on resolving this issue. Please let me know if any additional diagnostics or logs are required.

Looking forward to your assistance.

@aakash784, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Check BIOS Settings (Again)

Sometimes, touchpad settings can be toggled in the BIOS.

Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup (usually by pressing F10 during boot).

Look for Internal Pointing Device or Touchpad settings.

Make sure it is enabled (it could be disabled, which would explain why it works in BIOS but not in Windows).

Save and exit the BIOS.

Update or Roll Back Drivers

Since the “Mice and other pointing devices” section is missing from Device Manager, it could be a driver issue.

Open Device Manager and see if there’s a "Human Interface Devices" or "Other devices" section that might list your touchpad under a generic name (e.g., HID-compliant mouse).

If you see anything related to the touchpad, right-click it and try to update the driver.

Alternatively, uninstall the driver and reboot your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the basic driver on boot, which might fix any software conflict.

Check Windows Settings

Sometimes, the touchpad functionality might be disabled in Windows settings.

Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.

Ensure the touchpad is enabled and configured correctly.

If the touchpad doesn't show up, it's another indication the driver isn't properly installed or recognized.

Use Windows Troubleshooter

Run the Windows Troubleshooter for hardware and devices:

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.

Select Hardware and Devices and run the troubleshooter to detect and fix issues automatically.

Also, refer to this guide for further troubleshooting steps: HP Notebook PCs - Troubleshoot the touchpad | HP® Support

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
