Ensure that all cables are securely connected.
Step 2: Enable the Touchpad
- Press the Touchpad toggle key. This key usually has an icon resembling a touchpad with a line through it.
- Check for a small LED in the top left corner of the touchpad. Double-tap it to enable or disable the touchpad.
Step 3: Update or Reinstall Drivers
Update drivers:
- Open the Device Manager by searching for it in the Start menu.
- Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
- Right-click on your touchpad driver and select Update driver.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Reinstall drivers:
- In the Device Manager, right-click your touchpad driver and select Uninstall device.
- Restart your computer. Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
Step 4: Check Touchpad Settings
- Open Settings from the Start menu.
- Go to Devices > Touchpad.
- Ensure the touchpad is enabled.
- Adjust the sensitivity and other settings as needed.
Step 5: Run HP Diagnostic Tools
- HP Support Assistant:
- This utility can help you find and fix issues. Launch it from the Start menu or by searching for it.
- Follow any recommendations provided by the tool.
