When initially powering on the laptop, the touchpad works fine, but after 10 to 30 minutes of use it begins acting extremely laggy to various degrees. Sometimes it just has a slight but noticeable delay that makes using the mouse annoying, other times it will freeze and move very jaggedly (although this does not tend to last very long), and sometimes it will be incredibly slow and attempts to use a single finger to move the cursor will instead cause pinching actions like zooming or scrolling.
These issues would occur very, very rarely during the first year or so of using the laptop, and generally I could put up with it for 5-10 minutes until it worked itself out and went away. However, the last week or so it has happened almost every time I have used the laptop, and is incredibly frustrating and makes working with or using the laptop in any capacity extremely slow and tedious. As far as I can tell, there have been no major changes to incite this, the relevant drivers are up to date, I've fiddled with all the mouse and touchpad settings I could to no success, and the laptop is seeing the same use as before this problem started being common.
Any ideas on how to properly identify what exactly is causing the issue and how to troubleshoot it?
