I still use an HP EliteBook x360 1030 G2, and I recently updated the system. After restarting, I noticed that the touchscreen was no longer responding.
I’ve checked Device Manager, and the touchscreen driver shows that it’s working properly, but the touchscreen itself still doesn’t respond.
I’ve exhausted most of the troubleshooting options I know. What else can I do to resolve this issue and get my touchscreen working again?

Hi @Wisdo_Mkpang,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Since the touchscreen stopped responding after the update, I recommend trying the following steps in order. You can use the touchpad or an external mouse to navigate Windows.
1. Reinstall the touchscreen device.
- Right-click the Windows Start button and open Device Manager.
- Expand Human Interface Devices.
- Right-click the HID-compliant touch screen and select Uninstall device.
- Confirm the uninstall if prompted, then restart the laptop.
- Check whether the touchscreen works after Windows reinstalls the device.
2. Run the touchscreen hardware diagnostic.
- Shut down the laptop.
- Turn it on and immediately press Esc repeatedly.
- Press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
- Select Component Tests > Touch Screen and run the available tests.
If a test fails, note the 24-digit Failure ID. If the touchscreen works in diagnostics but not in Windows, that would point us toward a Windows or driver-related issue.
3. Check whether the update can be rolled back.
If the problem started immediately after a Windows update, open Settings > Windows Update > Update history > Uninstall updates. If an update was installed just before the issue began, you can consider uninstalling that specific update, provided the option is available.
Please refer to HP's official touchscreen troubleshooting guide for additional instructions.
Could you please confirm two details?
Are you running Windows 10 or Windows 11?
Does the touchscreen respond in the HP hardware diagnostics environment, or is it completely unresponsive there as well?
Your answers will help us narrow down the cause without unnecessarily resetting Windows or reinstalling the operating system.
