OMEN by HP Laptop PC - 15-ax033dx (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, just trying to turn off my integrated intel gpu and only use my nvidia. However, I'm not seeing the option in BIOS. Turning the igpu off in device manager is a nonstarter as well.

The specs of your machine is

            https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05187528

It has low end  video card namely NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 960M (4 GB GDDR5 dedicated) therefore switching iGPU and dGPU works dynamically. For HP Omen machines with higher NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX cards, HP disabled iGPU and no option to enable it.

So you're telling me there's no way to disable my iGPU? Because I have a lower end card? But if I were to upgrade to, let's say 1070 or higher. That be enough to disable my iGPU automatically? I'm on the fence on whether to upgrade or just get a new one. It would probably cost the same.

No, you can't upgrade to higher video card, you have to BUY the whole new system board (if available) and Yes,  HP disabled it in BIOS.

New system board contains

  • Motherboard including BIOS,
  • CPU and iGPU
  • dGPU
  • New license of Windows

Because all above parts are on a same piece of hardware called System board.

You also need new charger and may be new battery.
