Hello HP Support Team,

I am experiencing an ongoing issue with my HP Victus 15 laptop (SKU: BV8X8EA) related to an external monitor connected via USB-C.

System details:

  • Model: HP Victus 15 (15-fb3000 series)
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 with Radeon 860M Graphics
  • OS: Windows 11
  • Connection: USB-C (DisplayPort Alt Mode) to external monitor

Problem description:

The external monitor is not consistently detected when the laptop starts.

Observed behavior:

  • When I power on the laptop, the monitor initially detects a signal (indicator turns white).
  • During Windows boot, the signal is lost (indicator turns yellow).
  • After Windows fully loads, the monitor is not detected at all (not even in Device Manager).

Important observations:

  • The issue is intermittent:
    • Sometimes the monitor works normally for several days.
    • Then suddenly stops being detected after boot.
  • Temporary fixes:
    • Entering BIOS and exiting without changes restores functionality.
    • Performing a power reset (holding power button ~20–30 seconds) also restores functionality.
  • This strongly suggests a USB-C / display initialization issue rather than hardware failure.

Driver-related findings:

  • The issue became worse after AMD graphics driver updated to:
    • Version: 32.0.23033.1002
  • Rolling back to an older version:
    • Version: 32.0.13058.3002
improves stability, but does not fully resolve the issue.

Additional steps already taken:

  • Updated chipset drivers (AMD Chipset)
  • Verified BIOS is up to date (HP Support Assistant shows no updates)
  • Disabled Fast Startup
  • Tested different boot scenarios (cold boot, restart, reconnecting cable)
  • Issue persists regardless

Conclusion:

The problem appears to be related to:

  • USB-C / DisplayPort Alt Mode initialization
  • Interaction between BIOS and AMD graphics driver during Windows boot

Request:

Could you please advise:

  1. Is this a known issue with this model or configuration?
  2. Are there any BIOS updates planned to address USB-C display initialization?
  3. Are there recommended drivers (specific versions) for stable USB-C display output?
  4. Is there any firmware or setting that can improve USB-C stability?
  5. How to resolve this problem?

The monitor: Lenovo Legion 27Q-10 (68C6GAC4UA)
The cabel: Ugreen CM556 USB-C - DisplayPort v1.4 2

Thank you in advance for your assistance.
