**bleep** man, so there’s no magic trick in bios for this? It’s as simple as this ram doesn’t wanna work in a pair? That seems so wild of Kingston, I mean it’s sold as a matching dual channel pair, and clearly HP picks up their ram and reads the XMP profile just fine as one stick works alone in either slot, and works with stock Hynix ram.

i got it from amazon, I don’t think you can return computer parts once opened right?

im gonna email then regardless or call tomorrow since the way it’s marketed is together.

I wish the Lenovo I have here for my wife has 2 ram slots, I would try it on there too.

So if I bought a second stick of cl 19 to match the stock ram would it likely run together? Amazon has time timetec Hynix chipset ram that’s CL 19.

well anyway, I installed the Sabrent, all I had to do was bend the heat sink a touch for it to properly snug against this drive. I’m using the HP media drive I made, so far it looks to be half way but it’s restarted and went to a windows screen, now back so installing software on HP screen.

looks like the Sabrent is a go with no issues.

It may very well work in the Lenovo, yes. Its just not cooperating with the HP for what ever reason.

Yes you can just purchase a single Hynex stick and run it with the old one. Make sure the Timings are all the same.

Run a tool like CPUz to see the timings of the old stick first, if you havent already.

If the HP recovery drive is trying to reinstall every time it reboots, then unplug it during reboot. But it shouldn't do that. It should run through, then it will need to USB stick to add the drivers and software afterward.

If its just a straight ISO from the MS Media Creation Tool and its reinstall looping, unplug it during first reboot.

But again let it run its course first to make sure you're not misunderstanding what its doing. IF its actually reinstall looping, then do what i mentioned above.

It said not to remove the stick, it has a bar on the bottom that’s slowly progressing? The prompts mentioned it would install the drivers based on my system so maybe that’s what it’s doing now? I’ll keep watching since it for sure already out the OS on it, I seen the login screen at one point.

for the ram, I’m going to try to exchange it first for a cheaper Timtec Hynix kit that’s CL 19, or maybe I’ll get a single 16GB stick if I can find matches. If they won’t let me send it back then I’ll find a fully matching stick and sell this second hand.

Could it be this XMP profile stuff doing this? The stock RAM doesn’t have it, and I only see one other ram listed with it which is the ballastix. I’m thinking I should steer away from the XMP stuff but then again, I have no clue what it is.

HP Recommended

I would, yes. Try the ram without XMP. It wont hurt anything if you dont have it.

Crucial has a ram finder that they guarantee it to work with your HP model.

IF it does NOT, Crucial will give you your money back.

Considering your trouble, I would look into this. I have not had any issues with their service.

Well I huess I shouldn’t have stopped it, it wasn’t moving so I stopped like you said and it says recovery failed now when I boot. Won’t seek to pickup the thumb drive now.

HP Recommended

Your recovery was working fine as in the photo you showed me. It was running the software installs and that can take a while.

I only said to disconnect it if it was in a reinstall LOOP.

You will have to start over.

HP Recommended

Really? It was like 2.5 hours and the bottom bar wasn’t moving anymore.

HP Recommended

Ya it can take two or three hrs over all depending on things.

IF its not cooperating, you can also use the MS Media Creation tool and install the standard ISO. You can add what ever HP software afterward.

Create media Windows 10
