Omen 17-AN019NO (4KF96EA)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi. I have just bought the Omen 17-AN019N0 and wonder if it is possible to put 16 more RAM in it (exchange the existing 2x8 RAM with 2x16) and at the same time change the 1 TB hard drive with a 4 TB hard drive, because i think 1 TB is to small for storage. I have tried to find the answers on HP homepage, but it doesn't say it exatly.  Just to be sure if is a keeper or not. Thanks in advance. Tommy

Will the drive fit otherwise without the brackets?

It should and if so, double sided foam tape (heavy duty, not the light stuff for paper) should hold it just fine.

As long as the drive is insulated from the metal base of the laptop bay, it should be good. Not that it will damage the HDD if it touched, but Its been a discussion in the past that the brackets helped insulate the HDD from static.

Hello Tommy,

The short answer is yes and yes.

But if you need more clarification, let me know.

Here is the manual with more details, if it will help...

BTW, Intel is easier to find compatible ram options than AMD is, but I recommend the Crucial memory finder. They will stand behind their products to guarantee compatability.

Its an option if you don't know what to go with.

Thanks for your quick answer:clap:. But do you know how much RAM the motherboard accept for this laptop and the same about the hard drive, how many TB, because the link you sent is not that specific.

Im sorry, I thought it was self explanitory. You had asked...  "if it is possible to put 16 more RAM in it (exchange the existing 2x8 RAM with 2x16)".

Yes, 2x16 sticks for a total of 32GB is the max memory it will allow.

The link i gave (Crucial) sells up to 2x16GB matched sets, which is what you want.

You can absolutley add a 4 TB HDD to replace the 1TB HDD that exists. You can use whatever brand traditional HDD you prefer.  I only use Western Digital drives as my preference for HDD as I have had the best luck with least failures with them.

Is that what you are asking?

Ok, i have got the answer I needed, thanks.

I also have WD in my desktop pc, so I think it will be the same in this one.

Today i tried to replace the existing 1 TB hard drive with a 4 TB hard drive but the 4TB hard drive does not fit, it is to high to use with the existing hard drive brackets. The 1 TB hard drive is 7 mm thick and the 4 TB is 14,8 mm thick. I can't use the hard drive brackets as they are, do I have to remove the 4 placeholders for the thin hard drive or is there another solution.

Thanks

I think the 4 TB drive would fit without the bracket. Its at good idea to use double sided foam tape, think i will use it in the future. But for now i have bought a 2 TB drive instead, it is as thick as the 1 TB drive and fits into the brackets just fine. I the use the 4 TB drive as an external drive, it works just fine even playing PUBG. Thanks for your suggestion, though.
