Hello mates. I have a gaming notebook Victus by HP 16. Currently, the notebook has 8 GB RAM (4x4) and 256 GB SSD and the notebook is under warranty purchased 4 moths ago. So I want to upgrade my notebook. My question is: I want to remove the 4GB RAM from 1 slot and want to install 16 GB RAM in that slot. So is that a good idea to have an 16GB & 4GB RAM ? Total of 20GB? Will this work normally like 4,8,16,32 ? Kindly guide. Plus I'll simply install 1TB SSD in the second empty slot... But Will this effect the warranty of my laptop ?

Chapter 5 indicates that installing memory or a SSD is a customer-authorized procedure.
You should be able to upgrade the memory without voiding the warranty as long as you don't break anything in the process of working inside the notebook.
Note: Should your notebook need warranty service, you will need to return it to its original hardware configuration before sending in for warranty service.
You can install a 16 GB memory chip and leave the 4 GB chip installed and have 20 GB of memory running in single channel mode.
RIght now, you have 8 GB of memory (2 x 4 GB) running in dual channel mode.
Chapter 1 shows the following memory configurations:
Supports the following configurations
● 32 GB (16 × 2)
● 16 GB (8 × 2)
● 12 GB (8 + 4)
● 8 GB (4 × 2 or 8 × 1
But even if you remove both of the 4 GB chips, the single16 GB memory chip is still going to run in single channel mode unless you install 2 x 16 GB of memory.
Even though a 1 x 16 GB or a 16 GB + 4 GB configuration was not offered, I think it will work and you may as well take advantage of the extra 4 GB until you can install another 16 GB memory chip.

Hi:
What is the full model number or product number of your notebook?
Use this guide to find that information.

The service manual will indicate if upgrading the memory or storage is a customer-authorized procedure or if it should be done by an authorized HP service center.
You can install a 16 GB memory chip along with the 4 GB chip and have 20 GB of memory but it will still run in single channel mode like it is now.
In order for memory to run in dual channel mode, you have to install matching capacities of memory in each slot (2 x 4 GB, 2 x 8 GB, 2 x 16 GB).

Is there any chance to adjust the 16GB RAM with the 4GB RAM? Because I've already bought the single chip of 16GB and the notebook having 4x4 of two rams. I want to replace one 4 GB with 16GB. Or should I remove both 4GB Rams and install only single 16GB? Help, please.
